Grace is a junior in high school who brings a passionate voice to her community. Read about her below.
This week Empower Her had the pleasure of speaking with Grace Gianquinto who is a Junior at Amity High School and embodies what it means to be independent, selfless, and busy.  As a student, Grace is involved in many organizations at her school.  She is a part of the You Matter organization along with the JSA organization.  You Matter is a mental health awareness organization that is dear to Grace because she knows somebody who lost their life to suicide a few years ago.  She said, “I think mental health is very important to talk about and to destigmatize. There are many people out there who struggle with mental health and it is important for them to know they are loved, they are not alone, and there are plenty of resources whether it be friends, family, or professionals that want to help.  At the end of the day, mental health is important to talk about which is why I am proud to be a part of this club.”  The JSA club is a political club at her high school which discusses current events along with different political debates. When asked about that club, she said, “I think it’s super important as young people to have a broad scope of the political spectrum. We are the future of the United States and the world and in order to get anything accomplished in the future we need collaboration and compromise. While it’s perfectly fine to disagree on different issues, we need to understand one another and cooperate with each other because if we want to see a united nation, it starts by working together and it starts with the future of this country, today.” Grace is also a member of the Field Hockey team and Varsity Track and Field team at school.

When she is not at school, Grace holds a job at a local boutique where she helps customers out with selections and also checks them out.

When asked what she wants to do for college and her life, she said, “I want to go into criminal psychology and work for the FBI one day.”  Some schools that Grace is interested in include; Sacred Heart University, Coastal Carolina University, West Virginia University, and University of Rhode Island.

Being well rounded and balanced are just two traits that demonstrate why Grace is a leader in her community.  Grace has a bright future ahead of her and it was a pleasure speaking with her this week.
